Our primary goal for establishing the Educational Resource is to encourage in children, a lifelong appreciation of the value and beauty of animals. We hope to enhance the chance for a healthy, meaningful companionship between children and animals and to engender responsibility among young pet owners by developing concern for the well-being of animals. Generally, we hope to inspire responsible pet ownership and to enhance the relationships between children and animals. RESOURCES The following resources contain a wealth of information on responsible animal ownership, selection and handling of animals, obedience training, and the relationships between people and animals. AKC RESOURCES The Complete Dog Book for Kids (Paperback) This book is adapted from AKC's classic The Complete Dog Book, now the best-selling dog book of all time. The Complete Dog Book for Kids is designed especially for children ages 8 -12. AKC Dog Care and Training Book Dog Care and Training has over 200 pages of expert advice, full-color photos and illustrations, answers to the most commonly asked questions, and a complete glossary of terms.
